Xylan® (PTFE) coatings
The LoneStar Group applies Xylan® (PTFE) coatings to protect precision-engineered fasteners, bolts and components.
Xylan® coatings are used to reduce friction, mitigate wear and create corrosion-resistant non-stick surfaces.
High-performance, fluoropolymer-based dry-film lubricants
Xylan® is a family of high-performance industrial coatings that consist primarily of fluoropolymers, including polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). These advanced coatings are mixed with high-temperature organic polymers to create ‘plastic alloys’ that are reinforced with binders to increase strength, durability and long-term performance within harsh industrial and critical industry environments.
One of the primary uses of Xylan® coatings in industrial applications is for corrosion resistance. Here, they are commonly used to protect a variety of precision-engineered parts and components in the automotive, construction and energy industries.
Multiple business units within the LoneStar Group are approved applicators of Xylan® (PTFE) coatings. They also hold various end-user approvals for the application and supply of finished, high-performance, Xylan® coated components.
Superior protection and versatility
Applications
Optimum corrosion resistance
Industry examples.
Xylan® is often deployed in caustic and high-temperature environments such as refineries, where trusted and long-term leak prevention is essential.
Xylan® coatings are available in a variety of formulations.
The selection of the best coating depends on the desired properties and customer specifications. Common Xylan® coatings offered by the LoneStar Group include:
Xylan® 1424
A water-resistant, low-friction coating with high resistance to abrasion, chemical degradation and corrosion. Xylan® 1424 is especially suited to caustic environments. It is compliant for environmentally sensitive and sustainable applications.
Xylan® 1070
Water-resistant with a low coefficient of friction. It possesses formidable corrosion and heat resistance. It is used for leak prevention in tanks, vessels and valves operating in aggressive environments.
Xylan® 1010
Specially formulated for its abrasion resistance and ability to operate in environments with temperatures up to 550°F (288°C). Possesses a low coefficient of friction, allowing it to be used on almost any wear surface.
Xylan® 1014
A low-friction lubricant that contains a significantly higher percentage of bonding resins. It is less porous and more abrasion-resistant than its counterparts. Capable of producing an aesthetic glossy finish.
Xylan® 1052
A dry film lubricant able to withstand extreme temperatures up to 550°F (288°C). This coating can also maintain its stability in high-pressure environments. It has strong binding lubrication for low-speed wear applications.
Xylan® 1425
Heat resistant (up to 400°F/204°C). It is water and chemical-resistant and is suitable for high-pressure, low-speed applications.
Xylan® 1427
A low-friction coating with additional corrosion inhibitors to improve corrosion performance. Normally used over a range of pre-treatments or primers, which can achieve up to >5000 hours of salt spray resistance.
