Zinc-flake coating
The LoneStar Group offers zinc-flake coating to protect precision-engineered fasteners, bolts and components.
This non-electrolytically applied coating eliminates the risk of hydrogen embrittlement while delivering thin, uniform finishes with exceptional corrosion resistance.
Microscope technology. Maximum integrity.
A zinc-flake coating is regarded as a pinnacle protection system. Differing from traditional electroplating, zinc-flake coatings are non-electrolytically applied, enabling the mechanical and thermal process to be precisely controlled at all stages.
Consisting of microscopic zinc flakes, often combined with aluminium, these sophisticated coatings are bound to components through a spin-dip process. Once heat-treated, these flakes form a high-strength, multi-layered structure, creating a dual barrier and sacrificial protection perfectly suited to corrosive and extreme environments.
The LoneStar Group can coat in various zinc flake technologies, including, but not limited to:
Zinc-flake technology is typically coated by the LoneStar Group at thicknesses ranging from 5µm to 20µm. Upon request, these can be changed depending on specific requirements and demands.
Specifications for zinc flake coatings are defined in International Standard ISO 10683 and in European Standard EN 13858. ISO 10683 sets out the requirements for zinc flake coatings for threaded fasteners and EN 13858 describes the requirements for zinc flake coatings for fasteners with no thread and other specialised components.
